AIS has been an industry leader is book collection analysis software products for many years.  Now you can have AIS perform the same high quality collection analysis available in our SmartSearch products for your school clients on a per item charge.  You and your reps can take advantage of these powerful sales tools without learning a new software product.  You email to us a collection in MARC record format and we will email back to you a complete analysis of that collection.  It’s that simple. And all of the forms contain your company name not ours.

There are two levels of analysis available:

• Standard analysis -  complete analysis of the school’s collection
• Premium analysis - includes the standard analysis and also creates a book list from your inventory database to meet the school’s deficiencies

The standard analysis will include the following items:

Five year detailed purchase plan and budget

The five year plan and budget provides a complete roadmap on the number of books that should be purchased in each Dewey catagory over the next five years to bring the collection up to standard. The results are presented in Excel spreadsheet format. An example of a top level five year plan is shown below. In addition, you will recieve a detailed five year plan showing purchases by Dewey category for each year.

Collection Map

The Collection map compares a school’s book collection to a standard balanced collection for the grade level of the school.  Deficiencies in each Dewey category are presented.  Results are presented in graphical and in Excel spreadsheet format.

Recency Analysis

The Recency analysis presents the distribution of the book collection by publication year and selected Dewey categories. Results are presented in graphical and in Excel spreadsheet format.

Shelving Requirements

Shelving requirements estimate the additional feet of shelving that will be required in the library if additional books are purchased to bring the collection into balance.  Results are presented in graphical format.

Weeding Candidates

The Weeding candidates analysis presents a list of books that the school owns that have old publication years and are in time sensitive Dewey categories such as technology.

Statistical Analysis

The Statistical Analysis presents graphs and spreadsheets of the collection by publication year and Dewey category.  Both detailed results by Dewey category 10s and broader results by Dewey category 100s are presented.
